Chocolate. Sweet, decadent but why do you have to be so sinful. I had very profound love hate relationship with chocolate. Studies have shown that dark chocolate is indeed healthy, being rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and known to lower blood pressure. Despite all these benefits, i still can’t seem to wrap my head around the fact that it is healthy for one tiny reason…and that is the sky high amounts of saturated fat. Fortunately it doesn’t have to be like that. What if I told you that there is an alternative that is completely low fat and is still as rich and delicious as normal chocolate. Here’s my recipe to chocolate in a jar. Made with agave so it is low glycemic index. It is great for baking, making sundaes, giving as a present or just eating it straight out of the jar…and on top of it all, it is super easy to make. CAUTION this recipe is highly addictive
2/3 cup sifted Organic Cacao Powder + extra
1/2 cup Agave Nectar + extra (Liquid Honey I assume could also work)
In a small bowl combine the ingredients and mix together until it becomes dark and has a ganache type consistency. You may have to add more agave or cacao powder to make it to desired consistency
Spoon into a jar and Voila!
